Four Home-Made Disinfectants to Help Confront the Corona Virus

With the fear of the corona virus spread through out the country many people are finding it hard to get their hands on any sort of disinfectant for their homes or on the go as household cleaners and travel sanitizers are sold out everywhere. On top of being hard to find most store-bought cleaning items are made with unsafe synthetic chemicals that can cause respiratory issues, skin aggravations and can even dirty the air in your home. Rather than utilizing these items, you can undoubtedly make a disinfectant at home utilizing everyday ingredients like vinegar rubbing alcohol and fragrant oils. This can help to diminish your exposure to synthetic toxins and help you confront this corona epidemic.

Surface Cleaner

1 cup white vinegar

1 cup distilled water

13 drop lemon essential oil

12 drop clove essential oil

8 drop cinnamon essential oil

8 drop rosemary essential oil

7 drop eucalyptus essential oil

Mix all ingredients in a 1 pint spray bottle and shake well before use. This mixture will last you 12 months if stored in a dark room temperature space.

Aroma Immune System Boost

5 drops of lavender

5 drops of eucalyptus

3 drops of ravensara

2 drops of bay laurel

Add this mixture to a room diffuser or humidifier and follow the manufacturing instructions for an aroma based effect that can help boost your immune system

Disinfectant Wipes

1 part water

1 part vinegar

10-15 drops of essential oil of your choice

10 inch pieces of cloth.

Pour these ingredients into a large glass container and leave 10 inch cloth squares to soak. Store disinfectant in a dark room temperature space. Remove a cloth when ready to use.

Vodka Disinfectant Spray

1 1/2 cups 100 proof vodka

1/2 cup white distilled vinegar or more alcohol (not safe for granite and marble)

50-60 drops tea tree essential oil

Pour the vodka into a 16 ounce spray bottle and then the essential oil. Shake the bottle to combine. Finally, add the vinegar and shake again.

Be sure to consult your doctor and the CDC website to do your own research about the best ways to protect your family especially in specific health needs. The CDC recommends disinfectants contain 60% alcohol or higher for corona!
